The idea behind Animesis
came from the hotel industry
This idea began in hospitality, not a laboratory. For more than a hundred years, the industry has been asking how to make guests feel cared for, recognized and remembered. What stays with a guest goes beyond facilities and service: it is a familiar, reassuring feeling.
Mention it once. It stays remembered.
You once explained your preferences for a stay: a quieter room, a particular pillow, how far you like the curtains drawn. Next time, those details are already taken care of before you ask.
It does not depend on someone recalling everything anew each time. What you said remains in the service record. The feeling is less surprise than reassurance: you remember what I told you last time.
A different hotel. The same familiar feeling.
You fly to another city and stay at another hotel of the same brand. The receptionist is different. So is the lobby. But in your room, the pillow is right, the fridge has nothing you are allergic to, and your kind of tea is waiting by the window.
You said nothing. It forgot nothing. A different hotel, a different city, different people—the feeling remains.
Why not when you switch AI?
You have spent a long time talking with one AI. Your project context, your preferences, the decisions you made together—switch to another AI, and that understanding may not follow you.
In a hotel, that understanding travels with the brand. We want it to travel with you. That is where Animesis began.
Animesis is a governance-based memory system for long-term AI collaboration.
Your preferences, ongoing projects and earlier decisions should not need explaining from scratch every time. Animesis keeps these important memories independent of any single AI: every AI connected to it can use them, and switching to another connected AI does not mean starting over.
Pick up where you left off
Preferences, project context and confirmed decisions do not disappear when you close a conversation. Open it again and your progress is still there. No need to introduce yourself from scratch every time.
Rules stay remembered
You said “keep the budget below this amount” or “just one page for the weekly report”. These rules stay in memory for AIs connected to Animesis to use in later work, so you do not have to explain them again.
Your memory, in your hands
Your memory is stored on your own device. You can view everything it contains at any time, make corrections and export it. What you take with you is not a chat log, but organised memory with context and history.
Understands you better over time
Your habits, the details you care about and how you work do not need to be taught from scratch each time. Preferences confirmed three months ago need not be repeated; if they later change, you can correct them. Continue this week’s work from last week’s progress. Understanding builds over time.

Already agreed—and explaining it again?
Who it is for, what tone to use, what not to say—you agreed on all of this last time. Start a new conversation, and you have to explain it again. Every time feels like your first time working together.
Forgot your rules again?
You said “keep the budget under 100,000”. It replied “Got it. I’ll remember.” Twenty exchanges later, it suggested a plan costing 120,000. The budget requirement had been confirmed, yet it was not followed.
Want to switch, but cannot leave?
After more than half a year, it finally understands you. Then one day you want to try something else. Records can be exported; understanding cannot be taken along. However capable the new tool is, it has to get to know you from scratch.
Getting to know you, all over again?
You spent three months helping it understand you: you prefer concise wording, Mondays are your busiest days so do not schedule too much, and reports should start with the conclusion before going into detail. Open a new conversation, and if that context does not carry over, you have to introduce yourself all over again.
Five people sharing one AI?
Can an intern see a client quote? Can anyone change an approved plan? How are the owner’s boundaries followed in later work? One person needs clear rules too; a group also needs to know who may view and who may change things. The team edition is in development to address these questions.
Your robot got a new brain?
Your home robot has been in use for six months. It has recorded your routine, knows your child is afraid of the dark and knows you dislike bright lights. One day, it needs an upgrade or a different model. If six months of understanding did not carry over, would you want to teach it all again? This is the next problem we want to address.

Over a long conversation, some rules drift out of attention.
But Animesis did not forget. What needed stopping was stopped.
I may forget. It does not.
Following the rules does not depend on self-discipline. It depends on Animesis.
Three steps to get started.
Install Animesis
After receiving a beta invitation, follow the instructions to create an account, download the installer and complete setup. macOS is currently supported; Windows support is in progress.
Connect your AI
Connect through the standard MCP protocol. Desktop AI tools such as OpenClaw, Claude, Claude Code and Codex are supported; once installed, simply add Animesis in your AI tool. Browser-based AI is not supported yet.
Use it as usual
Once connected, chat, write and work on projects as usual. Your confirmed preferences and decisions are remembered. Next time you open it, your progress is still there.
Your memory stays in your hands
Memory contains your preferences, work and judgments. Where it is stored, who may use it and what is sent to AI should all be clear.
Memory stays on your device
Your memories are stored in your local database. Animesis’s cloud neither stores nor reads your memory content.
What gets sent to whom during use
When you talk with an AI, memories being used are sent to the AI provider you have connected; unused memories are not sent. Animesis’s cloud receives only governance information such as category and importance, not the original memory content.
Managed by you
You can view all memory content at any time, correct it and choose what remains in use. How your memory is managed is up to you.
Take it with you
You can export your memory and take it elsewhere. What you take is organised memory, not a pile of chat logs.

How is this different from the memory built into an AI?
An AI’s built-in memory is managed by its platform. Animesis memories are stored on your device, where you can view, correct and export them. They can also continue to be used when you switch to a supported AI.
Do I have to record everything manually?
Not everything needs to be recorded manually. In everyday use, important preferences and decisions are identified and saved. You can also say “Remember this”, or review and adjust existing memories afterwards.
Can Animesis see my memories?
Animesis’s cloud does not receive or store original memory content. That content is stored on your device; the cloud receives only information such as category and importance to make governance decisions.
Does my memory remain if I switch AI?
Yes. The memory is not inside the AI; it is in Animesis. Switch to another AI connected to Animesis and it picks up the same memory. Each AI does express itself differently, though: same memory, possibly a different style of answer.
What can it not do yet?
Browser-based AI cannot connect yet; a desktop client is required. Not every conversation automatically becomes memory. Building useful memory takes consistent use. Shared memory and team permission management are still in development.
Does it cost anything?
The current beta is free. Pricing for the full release will be explained before the beta ends. No fees are charged during the beta.
